News Releases| | Tue Mar 13, 2007 Asia Now adds 4 rigs to test Habo copper-gold porphyry
|
| | Asia Now Resources Corp. (TSXV: NOW) is pleased to announce it has secured four drill rigs to test its Habo copper-gold porphyry in southwestern China. The four rigs are in addition to the single rig currently on site.
All five drills will test a mineralization system in the south part of the South Habo block, which measures no less than 1,300 meters by 800 metres indicated by previously reported trenching and pitting programs. Also, as previously reported, eight adits were driven into copper-gold mineralization in prominent hills. Assay results from four of the adits, reported in a news release dated February 6, 2007, indicated extensive sulphide mineralization below surface, and therefore confirmed the potential for a large bulk-tonnage, open-pittable copper-gold deposit.
Although adits were driven within the weathered, leached zone, assay results from adit samples have shown grades of up to 1.8% copper, 1.1 gram per tonne (g/t) gold and 0.12% molybdenite at depth compared to surface mineralization where sampling returned copper values of mostly 0.1-0.3% (maximum 0.73%) plus gold values of mostly 0.1-0.4 g/t (maximum 1.3 g/t) over 300 continuous meters, as previously reported.
All five drills will work on the south part of the large porphyry system to test the copper and gold grades beneath the weathered zones. The first drill hole is underway, slowed by fractured rock in the deep weathered cap, and continues within mineralization. Two of the new drill rigs have been mobilized and are expected to start drilling in mid-March. By the end of March, two more will be moved to the site and begin drilling in early April.
In addition to drilling, the Company will continue driving adits to test the north part of the Habo South soil geochemical anomaly which is 3.5 km long by 2.1 km wide, outlined using 150 ppm copper, 16 ppb gold and 10 ppm molybdenum, one of four major gold-copper-molybdenum soil anomalies in the Habo porphyry.
The Habo project is located 350 km by highway and paved road from Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan. Habo is one of three key projects that the Company is currently exploring in Yunnan.
